Buncrana Lighthouse - Improved Daymark and Minor Reduction in Range Of Light

Area: North Coast of Ireland

The Commissioners of Irish Lights hereby give notice that on or about 27 February 2009, or as soon thereafter as circumstances permit, a new daymark and a new light will be installed at Buncrana Lighthouse. This will necessitate the provision of a temporary light for a period of approximately six weeks from the evening of 17 January 2009.

Position: 55° 07.604'N, 07°27.881'W
Character: ISO. WR 4s  Visible - R. shore-052°, W. 052°-139°, R. 139°-shore
Range: White = 14 nautical miles. Red = 11 nautical miles
Daymark: Black Tower
Elevation: 8 metres

Temporary Light
Position: 55° 07.604'N, 07° 27.881'W
Character: ISO. WR 4s Visible - R. shore-052°, W. 052°-139°, R. 139°-shore
Range: White = 13 nautical miles. Red = 10 nautical miles
Daymark: Red Pedestal
Elevation: 5.5 metres
  
New Light
Position: 55° 07.604'N, 07° 27.881'W
Character: ISO. WR 4s Visible - R. shore-052°, W. 052°-139°, R. 139°-shore
Range: White = 13 nautical miles. Red = 10 nautical miles
Daymark: Red Tower with white band
Elevation: 11 metres

Radio Navigational Warnings will be issued when the above changes take place.
