Irish Lights is recruiting for a skilled electrician to join our Coastal Operations Team as a Lighthouse Technician (LT) on a short-term contract. The successful candidate will be responsible to the CIL DL and Buoy Lead for their role in the provision of maintenance and management of Irish Lights’ assets and other activities. The LT will operate as part of multi-disciplinary teams at Irish Lights Dun Laoghaire. This role is based in Dun Laoghaire.
Duties of the role will include:
- Undertaking routine maintenance at the Dun Laoghaire Headquarters as directed, both individually and as part of a team. Routine maintenance will include routine inspection/testing of all systems related to the fire safety of the building e.g. emergency lighting, fire extinguishers
- Reporting any defects or deficiencies with any asset using a computerised work management system.
- Using specialist technical knowledge to fault find and resolve issues onsite and on navigational buoys and their components
- Inducting third party contractors on site who attend to carry out routine maintenance. Advising them in relation to any issue with the equipment and confirming when the work is completed.
- Understanding Risk Assessments and following the required Control Measures
- Undertaking wiring, assembly and disassembly of navigational buoys and their components as directed, individually or as part of a team
- Keeping up to date on training, upskilling and personal development.
