For more than 200 years Irish Lights has provided vital safety and navigation services around the coast of Ireland. While all our lighthouses today operate as major aids to navigation around the coast, we also work with local communities to operate a sub-set of them as visitor attractions and holiday locations under the brand Great Lighthouses of Ireland that are also home to wonderful tourism experiences.
Since 2015, the Great Lighthouses of Ireland partnership has grown from strength to strength, offering a variety of 17 experiences with more than 155,000 visitors each year visiting or staying at a lighthouse.
"This great success is down to the combined effort of a dedicated community of people at local and national level who have worked together to develop a unique visitor experience at each site, which is true to the identity of their own local community. With commitment to delivering sustainable visitor experiences since its inception, Great Lighthouses of Ireland supported by Irish Lights continues the journey towards an ambitious future for coastal destinations and communities on our island,”
