Slyne Head Lighthouse - Reduction in Range of Navigational Light

The Commissioners of Irish Lights hereby give notice that on 26th August 2002, or as soon thereafter as circumstances permit, the light at Slyne Head Lighthouse (A6288) will be replaced by a new solar powered light. This will necessitate the provision of a temporary light for a period of approximately two weeks from about 12th August 2002.
The character, phasing and ranges of the existing, temporary and new lights are as follows:
EXISTING LIGHT
Position 53° 24.0' N 10° 14.0' W

Range 24 nautical miles
TEMPORARY LIGHT
Position 53° 24.0' N 10° 14.0' W

(fl 0.8, ec 2.4, fl 0.1, ec 12.4 = 15s)
Range 11 nautical miles
NEW SOLAR POWERED LIGHT
Position 53° 24.0' N 10° 14.0' W

Range 19 nautical miles
All other details, including height, colour and lighting time remain unchanged.
Racon coverage will remain unaffected.
Radio Navigation Warnings will be issued on the establishment of the temporary light and on the commencement of the new solar powered light.
